Building the order: products, variants, weight, notes

Find a product, choose a variant or options, weigh, enter a free price, add a note, put a sale on hold.

Before you start

  • For 💳 Cashier 🍽️ Waiter

The till's New screen is made to be quick: the product grid on the left, the cart on the right.

Finding a product#

  • Categories: when none is open, the grid shows the categories (as images or text depending on the setting). Tap one; the big arrow at the bottom right goes back.
  • Sub-categories (if on): up to 3 levels. A strip at the top shows "All" and the main categories; a path like "Mains › Pizza" stays tappable at each step. Products sit on the last level.
  • Search: the "Search products…" field filters by name or barcode. In an open category, search stays inside the category. The cross clears; the keyboard icon opens the on-screen keyboard. Nothing found: "No product found".
  • Misc: the "Misc" tile (name editable) sells an off-catalogue item at a free price.

Each tile shows the price; a product with variants shows "From …". A badge shows variants ("3 var.") and options ("+opt"). For recipe products, an orange "Low ingredient" outline warns without blocking.

Scanning a barcode#

Scanning is always on, with no setting: the scanner adds the product even if the search field is not selected (except while a window is open). The till confirms with a green chip and a beep: "… added". Other messages: "Unknown barcode", "… is sold out", or, if several items share a code, a list to choose from.

Scale labels (an EAN-13 code starting with 2, carrying a weight or price) are read if the "Scale labels" option is on in the settings (for bakeries, butchers, shops and others). An exact product barcode always wins.

Variants and options#

  • Variant (size, shoe size…): a "Choose a variant" window lists the variants with their price. Tap the right one.
  • Options (sauce, doneness, extra…): a window offers the option groups. A "1 choice" group accepts one, "Several" accepts several, "Required" must be filled. Tap Add to cart (the button stays greyed out until a required group is filled).

Products sold by weight#

A product sold by the kilo, gram, litre or millilitre opens a weighing pad. Enter the weight (decimal comma, 3 decimals), or tap a shortcut: 0.25 / 0.5 / 1 / 2 for kg and litre; 100 / 250 / 500 / 1000 for gram and millilitre. The total shows live. In the cart, the line shows "0.35 kg": tap it to correct the weight.

Free price#

A free-price product (like "Misc") opens "Enter the price": type the amount (above 0) then Add.

The cart#

  • Adding the same product twice (same options, no note) raises the quantity of the line. Weighed, free-price and noted products stay on separate lines.
  • − and + change the quantity; at zero the line disappears without confirmation (before the kitchen send).
  • For a product note ("no onion"), tap the line's bubble: a keyboard opens, with quick notes in one tap (up to 10, set in the "Quick notes" settings). The note goes to the kitchen and prints.
  • To empty the whole cart, tap the bin: a "Cart emptied" message offers Undo.

Putting a sale on hold#

To serve someone else while a customer is thinking:

  1. Tap the pause icon ("Put on hold") in the cart header: the cart, customer and pickup name are set aside, and the cart empties.
  2. A badge with the number of sales on hold appears: tap it to open Sales on hold.
  3. Tap Resume on the sale you want. If the current cart is not empty, it is put on hold automatically: nothing is lost.

Sales on hold are kept on this device: they are not shared between two tills. Before an app update, the current cart is put on hold by itself. The pause icon does not show when you are adding items to an order already sent.
