When a ticket prints#
A ticket goes out at every "Send to kitchen" (till, waiter, validation of a kiosk or online order). The Kitchen App must be on and the Kitchen tickets on (both are on by default): if either is off, nothing prints in the kitchen.
Reading a ticket#
Top to bottom:
- An optional title: **\*\*\* MODIFIED \*\*\* or \*\*\* CANCELLED \*\*\*** (with "Reason: …").
- The station name in brackets, for example "[KITCHEN]".
- Order: the day number; Type; TABLE in large; Covers (if the option is on); Customer; Time.
- NOTE: the order note.
- The items: "2 Pizza - Large", its options ("+ No olives") and its note (">> well done"). For your station, items are in capitals, bold and large; other stations' items follow in small print under "the rest of the order", so each station sees the whole table.
- With courses, headings STARTERS, MAINS, DESSERTS, THE NEXT, OTHERS.
- If several customers share the order: a -- CUSTOMER 2 -- line separates them.
The paper is 32 columns (58 mm) or 48 (80 mm) wide.
"MODIFIED": items added#
When you add items to an order already sent, a "MODIFIED" ticket prints only the new items. This is the Automatic kitchen send setting (Settings › Printers, on by default); when off, nothing prints for an addition. Raising a quantity from the "Edit" window also prints a "MODIFIED" ticket.
"CANCELLED": a cancellation#
Cancelling an order already sent prints **\*\*\* CANCELLED \*\*\* with the reason, in the kitchen and on the till printer. Removing items prints a "CANCELLED" ticket with the removed items (reason "Item removed"). An order never sent to the kitchen prints nothing. A cancellation ticket can be reprinted** from the till history ("Print cancellation").
Reprinting a ticket#
At the till, In progress tab: expand the order, tap the chef's hat icon ("Reprint in the kitchen"). The current items print, without changing the "sent" state (held courses stay held). Any signed-in user can do it.
The button exists by default; it is removed with the Kitchen reprint button setting (Printers).
Which printer for which item?#
Each item goes to the kitchen printer assigned to its product; a product marked "all kitchen printers" prints everywhere; with no assignment at all, every kitchen printer prints the whole order. The same assignments serve as stations on the kitchen screen. See setting up the kitchen.
