Course sending (starter, main, dessert)
Send dishes in order: starters first, then mains, then desserts, when the floor sends them.
Before you start
- For 🍽️ Waiter 💳 Cashier 👨🍳 Kitchen 🧭 Manager
- Module Course sending (coursing)
- Setting Settings›Modules›Coursing (send by course)
In a restaurant, not everything is served at the same time: starters, then mains, then desserts. With course sending, each item gets a course and the kitchen follows the floor's pace.
Giving an item a course#
At the till as in the waiter app, each cart line has a Course button: tap it to go from "— Course" to 1 · Starter, 2 · Main, 3 · Dessert, then none. Items with no course are under "Others".
In simple mode, there is only one choice: The Next.
Three ways of working#
The manager chooses in Settings › Modules:
| Mode | What happens when sending |
|---|---|
| Classic, whole order (default) | Everything goes at once; the ticket is grouped under the headings STARTERS, MAINS, DESSERTS… The kitchen sets the pace. |
| Classic, course by course | Only the first course (plus items with no course) goes. The following ones are held until the floor sends them. |
| Simple, "The Next" | "The Next" items stay on hold until sent ("Keep The Next on hold" option, on by default); otherwise they print straight away and the chef waits for the signal. |
Sending the next course#
A held item shows On hold (till) or Not sent (waiter app).
- Waiter app: under the course heading, tap Send to kitchen.
- Till: in In progress, expand the order then Send under the course (in course-by-course mode).
Only that course's items print; they then become "sent". Adding items to an order already sent follows the same rule.
Kitchen side#
The kitchen screen and the printed ticket group lines by course. The screen has no "send" button: it also shows held items, under their course heading.
