Tips
Offer a tip at payment, keep the change, card tips, deduction and the team's share.
Before you start
- For 💳 Cashier 🧭 Manager
- Module Tips
- Setting Settings›Register›Tips
When tips are on, the payment screen offers a Tip block. The tip is outside revenue: it shows separately on the receipt and on the X and Z reports.
For the cashier#
The block only shows when tips are offered for the chosen payment method. There is never a tip on a Glovo order, on an order already paid online, or on a sale on account.
In cash#
- Tap No, +5, +10 or +20, or Other to type an amount on the keypad.
- When the customer gives more than the bill, tap Keep the change next to Change due: the change becomes the tip.
A cash tip stays in the drawer.
By card#
If the customer rounds up on the bank terminal, enter the amount charged on the terminal: everything above the bill becomes the tip, and a "Total tip" box shows it.
- If the amount entered is below the bill, the till refuses: "Below the total of …".
- If the tip is more than half the bill, the till asks to confirm ("High tip"): Yes, charge or Correct.
A card tip never goes into the drawer: it reaches the business's bank account.
When the bill is split#
Each part takes its own tip, with its own payment method. The "Round up the parts (+ tip)" button helps round up.
Deduction on card tips#
Card tips reach the business's bank account, which pays tax on them. If you wish, a deduction (a percentage) is taken from each card tip, and the rest is the team's share.
Example: with a 25 % deduction, a 100.00 MAD card tip gives 75.00 MAD for the team. The cashier sees this calculation at payment, and it appears on the X and Z reports. Cash tips are never touched.
For the manager: setting up tips#
In Settings › Register, card Tips:
| Setting | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Tips enabled | On | If you turn it off, the tip section disappears from the till and the Z report. |
| Tip offered for: Cash | Yes | |
| Tip offered for: Card | Yes | |
| Tip offered for: your custom method | No | |
| Deduction on card tips | Off | A percentage from 0 to 100 %, two decimals at most. Each Z keeps its own rate: an old report keeps its rate. |
On the Z report#
- Tips (outside revenue): the total, with the breakdown "of which Cash", "of which Card (outside drawer)" when there is more than cash.
- With a deduction: "Deduction 25 % (card tips)", then Tips for the team.
- In the drawer check, cash tips are added to the expected cash.
